Longfield Equestrian Centre has been at the heart of the riding community in Calderdale for over 40 years. The centre was first established in 1979 by dressage rider Christine Farnaby on her family farm. Whilst most of Middle Longfield Farm is now given over to horses, we are very proud of our prize-winning flock of Hampshire Down sheep.
From humble beginnings as a small riding school, we have grown into a thriving centre offering a wide range of equestrian services. Christine continues to provide expert tuition and training and she is now supported by a team of friendly, professional instructors whose qualifications range from BHSAI to BHSI.
Together, we have a wealth of experience when it comes to teaching complete beginners to ride, helping novice riders to progress, and coaching advanced competition riders and career students.
Whether you want to learn to ride or train up to an advanced level, you want to pick a centre that is both reputable and well run. BHS Approved Centres are inspected annually to ensure all necessary standards have been met, including the quality of the facilities used for teaching, the quality and qualifications of the teaching staff, the suitability of the horses and ponies and the safety procedures.
As a livery at Longfield, I feel that my horse is kept in safe hands and i have mountains of knowledge and help around me!
Having been a contented 'happy hacker' for many years I had developed several bad habits and needed some professional input... What a find Longfield Equestrian Centre has been! Well cared for, happy contented horses, great facilities and a truly wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. My instructor Kate has been superb. Taking time to understand what i want from the lessons, she has a great way of explaining things, is happy to answer any questions and has worked with me to improve my riding position and skills. I would not hesitate in recommending Longfield Eqestrian Centre to anyone.
I've been riding at Longfield for 7 years and I’ve never gone a lesson without learning something new. The best thing so far was going to the Pony Club championships in 2010, it was ace!
My Instructor Kate is the best, as she gets the best out of me, with lessons that are challenging and fun. I’m left very satisfied and looking forward to learning more. All possible thanks to well cared for chosen horses.
